Kurnool Medical College set for upgrade with Rs 50 crore Knowledge Hub

Kurnool: A Knowledge Hub is set to be established at Kurnool Medical College in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of ₹50 crore, with funding support from doctors working abroad. The announcement was made on Tuesday by TG Bharat, the Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Food Processing.
Recently, the Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) laboratory building, constructed at the Medical College at a cost of ₹66 lakhs, was inaugurated. Hospital Superintendent Dr Kurukunda Venkateswarlu, Medical College Principal Dr Chitti Lakshminarasamma, and others were present on this occasion. The construction of the VRDL lab was completed within six months with financial assistance from the Central Government.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister made this announcement. He stated that the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and providing modern medical services.
“We are taking several steps for the development of the hospital. With CSR funds, we will provide ventilators and ultrasound machines to improve patient care. Works are also underway to strengthen slabs of 21 buildings that are in a vulnerable condition,” he said.
He also stated that a modern knowledge centre and digital library would be established on 70 cents of land within the campus, to improve academic infrastructure for medical students, reports DC.
Meanwhile, Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju stated that the Government General Hospital has emerged as one of the state's leading public hospitals, where a large number of outpatients receive treatment. Thousands of patients visit this hospital every day, underscoring the significance of the medical services provided here.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the construction and modernisation of 150 Ayush health centres across the state, at an outlay of Rs 44 crore, will be completed within two months, said Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. The Minister noted that the initiative aimed to bolster traditional Indian medicine and improve access to Ayush services in both rural and urban areas.
